Locked into Round of 8 with Texas Win

In the sweltering heat, William Byron took the lead on the final restart and led for six laps around Texas Motor Speedway before taking the checkered flag to win the first race in the Round of 12. This locked him into the Round of 8 of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs.

The victory also marked a milestone for Hendrick Motorsports as the organization claimed its 300th win. Byron has notched 10 of those for Mr. Hendrick. After climbing from the car he expressed his gratitude to him "for his investment in me, and telling me at 17 years old that he was going to take me to Cup racing. So [I] just appreciate everything he’s done for me. This is awesome."

That makes six wins this season.
