Byron Wins #4 at Atlanta Motor Speedway

Everyone knew the rain was coming, and the No. 24 was up front when it did!

June 9, 2023 - The journey to Atlanta Motor Speedway's Victory Lane was not an easy one for William Byron and the No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet team on Sunday night. They started the race from the 18th position at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He quickly drove forward into the top five to finish stage one. Unfortunately, a safety violation on pit road relegated the neon Axalta machine to the tail end of the field for the start of stage two. Again, he moved forward quickly but contact on lap 79 caused his right rear tire to go flat. A couple of visits to pit road for fresh tires, fuel and repairs and he was back in the mix. With inclement weather looming, the team made some stellar strategy calls, which allowed him to stay out and not have to pit at the end of stage two. He restarted in the third position and wasted no time getting the the front, taking the lead on lap 167. A caution came out on lap 179 and while under yellow-flag conditions the rain started to fall. NASCAR threw the red flag due to lightning and called the event official on lap 185 with Byron as the winner!

The win at Atlanta Motor Speedway marks his fourth of the 2023 season, and the eighth of his NASCAR Cup Series career, which started in 2018.
